DID YOU KNOW that fair criticism by a field expert would not amount to an offence of criminal defamation.

DID YOU ALSO KNOW that our office successfully represented a client before Supreme Court of India in a Special Leave Petition challenging the High Court’s refusal to quash criminal proceedings against our client under Section 499 and 500 of the IPC.   In the facts of a connected appeal, the Supreme Court of India observed that the offence of criminal defamation would not be made out merely because of a statement which is in nature of “fair criticism” by a person who is an expert and has a long standing in a particular field in relation to which such statement was made.
